Guest Blog from Cheryl Kappes, a cherished downtown shop ownercheryl-kappes-country-maiden Hello, I’m Cheryl Kappes, owner of The Country Maiden in Downtown Glendale. Fall is in the air and we are excited for the cooler weather and the Autumn season! Housed in a 1920s bungalow in Downtown Glendale’s Catlin Court,  The Country Maiden is the “Neighborly Country Store with More.” My shop features primitive country home décor and accessories, quality reproductions, every day gifts for family and friends, Miss Mustard Seed Milk Paint and The Old Fashioned Milk Paint Company products, as well as many other unique, one-of-a-kind treasures. country-maiden-mantel-decor There are a variety of handmade products from American Folk Artists. Among these are the works of Greta Chirco—Sew Be It!—who has been recognized by The American Folk Art Museum for her artistic talents, and Olive Rose, the hand crafted artwork of Olivia Thomas. We encourage you to stop in often. With new deliveries arriving every week, and room displays that transform the shop for every season, it’s a real treasure hunt any time of year.  Just like Kim - the very first Country Maiden owner - we were out shopping one day in historic Catlin Court, saw it (the Country Maiden) wanted it, threw a fit (found the perfect partner-Papa Ed's) and got it!  We owe every bit of our success to our loyal customers who just love The Country Maiden and truly appreciate the unique shopping & dining destination that historic downtown Glendale is.Country Maiden Fall 1
