The Glendale Adult Center extends an open invitation to all adults (18+) to visit the facility and participate in the exciting activities offered.

The Glendale Adult Center invites all adults (18+) to visit our facility and participate in a wide variety of activities. The Center is designed and staffed for individuals to independently participate in offerings including high, medium and low impact aerobics classes, T’ai Chi, Zumba Gold, coloring club, bridge/pinochle/hand and foot/cribbage, chess, open computer lab,  bingo, holiday themed special events, and health & wellness support programs. No joining fees or contracts. Day pass, quarterly and annual memberships available for Glendale residents and non-residents. The Adult Center is an approved Silver Sneakers and Renew Active facility.

Hours of operation:  Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm

Membership Information

Just stop at the front desk and a helpful staff member will assist you in becoming a Glendale Adult Center member. The membership fees are as follows:

Quarterly Membership Fee

$10 ($40 per year) Glendale Resident
$15 ($60 per year) Non-Glendale Resident
$2 Day Pass

Everyone who uses the Center, its programs, services, or activities, must review and acknowledge the Code of Conduct rules. We accept cash, check, credit and debit.

ACTIVITIES AND EVENTS

Coloring Club
2nd and 4th Mondays of the month
1 – 3 p.m.
Bring your favorite coloring books and colors and we can
get together for fun, coloring and friendship. (Some supplies will be available initially.) Volunteer leader: Carol Castle

Open Computer Lab
The computer lab is open Monday through Thursday between 8 a.m. and 7 p.m. and Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., unless otherwise posted. The Computer Lab is a membership space. Any individual may purchase a day pass to use the Computer Lab or other membership spaces.

FITNESS AND CLASSES

Fitness Center
Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Choose from treadmills, ellipticals, stationary bikes, a variety of strength training equipment, and free weights.

Exercise Programs

First come, first served. A video may replace instructor. Included with GAC membership, with no additional fees.

GAC Fitness classes
Cardio Moves • M, W, F: 8:10 a.m.  (50 min)
Come join this fun, high-energy, fat-burning class with easy-to-follow routines. This cardio class is a great way to start your day. It won’t even feel like a workout!

Total Body • M, W, F 9:15 a.m. (55 min.)
Low impact aerobics/medium intensity followed by toning exercises using bands and balls. During the mat exercises, you may request alternative chair exercises that are just as effective.

SilverSneakers® Classic • M, W, F 10:30 a.m. & 1 p.m.
Have fun and move to music through a variety of exercises designed to increase muscular strength, range of movement and activity for daily living skills. Handheld weights, elastic tubing with handles and a ball are offered for resistance. A chair is used for seated and/or standing support.
 
T’ai Chi – Essentials * T,Th @ 1:00 p.m.
Discover 5 easy-to-learn exercises taken directly from the Tai Chi form. Exercises are designed to help improve balance, relaxation, flexibility, strength, and body awareness. Adapted for people of all ages, especially those who do not want to learn the entire Tai Chi form, but still want the benefits.

Zumba Gold * T,Th @ 2:00 p.m.
Active older adults who are looking for a modified Zumba class that recreates the original moves you love at a lower intensity.  Come ready to sweat and prepare to leave feeling strong.

Know how to knit? Bring your own needles and supplies. Make chemo caps and boots to donate to cancer patients. Knitting lessons first Wednesday of the month.

Lapidary Workshop
Great for all levels!
Tuesdays, Wednesdays & Thursdays, 9 a.m.–1 p.m. (Summer Hours)
Learn to cut and polish stones for jewelry.
Participants will p urchase a $15 punch pass worth 15 hours of use.

Medicare Enrollment Assistance
1st Wednesday of month • 9:30-11:30 a.m.
I am certified and trained to offer all major health plans and I am here yearlong should problems arise! I will be available to answer your Medicare questions, compare benefits, doctors and hospitals co-pays that will fit your needs. I also check and apply for any additional programs you may be eligible for such as Extra Help and Limited Income Subsidy.

SilverSneakers is here at the Glendale Adult Center!

The Glendale Adult Center encourages those passholders whose healthcare plans offer the SilverSneakers® benefit to choose us as one of their preferred locations.

SilverSneakers® is offered to older adults to help them take greater control of their health by encouraging physical activity and offering social events. By choosing the Glendale Adult Center as one of your preferred locations, SilverSneakers® members can receive a GAC membership which entitles members to the use of the billiards area, computer lab, exercise programs (low, medium and high intensity), baseball darts, belly dancing, bridge, chess, grab bag bingo, floor and tabletop shuffleboard, pinochle, ping pong, senior jeopardy challenge, scrabble club, card & game room, Wii bowling, knitting and sewing clubs (experience required), weekly movies, ceramics and more.

Setting up your SilverSneakers® account with the Glendale Adult Center is as easy as 1-2-3:

1. Just bring in your SilverSneakers® member ID card or we can verify your eligibility with your legal name and birthdate.

2. Complete a SilverSneakers® Waiver.

3. We’ll set up your Glendale Adult Center SilverSneakers® membership.

And that’s it!
You’re all set (for as long as you are eligible for SilverSneakers®) and able to use the center during any of the hours of operation just by scanning your pass when entering the facility.
