When you think of front porches, you think of Historic Catlin Court in downtown Glendale, right? Many of those front porches in the area are early-century homes converted to shops that sell everything from eclectic fashionable finds to vintage and rustic home décor. Anyone who loves shopping in downtown Glendale – or anyone who has yet to discover it – will want to check out a show with everything vintage and handmade, coming to Glendale this spring. The best part is, Visit Glendale is inviting everyone to enter a social media contest to win tickets to the popular Front Porch Pickins event at the University of Phoenix Stadium on April 8-9!
One ‘BFF four-pack’ of tickets will be given away, via our Facebook page: www.facebook.com/VisitGlendale. Simply click on the ‘giveaway’ tab to enter. Entries must be received by 10 a.m. on April 6. Entrants must be at least 18 years old; city of Glendale employees are not eligible. Winner will be notified by email.
Four hundred vendors and craft artisans will fill the huge, air-conditioned stadium for a picker’s dream; shoppers will find prime opportunities for outfitting one’s home, uncovering rare and unique vintage items and finding the perfect gift for the person who has just about everything.
“From mid-century modern pieces to pop-culture relics and one-of-a-kind jewelry, art and furniture, it all can be found here, especially now that we have a venue big enough to hold all of our interested vendors,” said Desiree' Byrne, one of the three founders of Front Porch Pickins. “The massive growth of the event over the last few installments is a strong indication of the fact that folks are starting to seek out rare and special shopping opportunities.”
In fact, some of those special vendors will be businesses from right here in downtown Glendale. Both Cheryl Kappes, owner of The Country Maiden, and Valerie Burner, owner of Bears & More, will leave their Catlin Court front porches to participate in the Front Porch Pickins event, showcasing their special products to a huge new audience.
