Chalk it up to one of the most colorful experiences in the city!
On Saturday, April 12, thousands of attendees and more than a dozen amazing mural artists will participate in the Vestar Chalk Art Festival, presented by Southern Arizona Arts and Cultural Alliance. From 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., anyone can grab a piece of chalk or two and participate in the free event as well as watch professional artists create 8-foot murals in a variety of themes throughout the shopping centers. The Vestar Chalk Art Festival at Westgate Entertainment District will have unique murals created by local artists and an imaginative hockey and Phoenix Coyotes themed KidZone, where children of all ages and adults are invited to participate by creating their own piece of chalk art.The Chalk Art Festival KidZone is a space where imaginations soar. Children and adults are welcome to create their own original pieces of chalk art and contribute to a large-scale community mural. The Phoenix Coyotes mascot Howler and dance team Paw Patrol will make an appearance at the KidZone around 3pm. The KidZone will be managed by an artist instructor specialized in working with children. Chalk and hand wipes will be provided. The large scale, professional chalk murals will be on view April 12 to 30. Westgate Entertainment District is located just steps from the Arizona Cardinals’ stadium and Phoenix Coyotes arena and will highlight spring-themed murals from seven professional artists.
