glendale-greeters-volunteers Did you know that April is National Volunteer Month? A lot has changed since 1974 when President Richard Nixon signed an executive order establishing a week as an annual celebration of volunteering as “National Volunteer Week."  Additionally, governors, mayors and other elected officials make public statements and sign proclamations in support of the event, in the spirit of honoring the givers and cornerstones of the community. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, more than 64 million people volunteered at least once between September 2010 and September 2011. The Corporation for National and Community Service says it's collectively dedicated 8.1 billion hours to a wide variety of organizations. That donated time and expertise is valued at $173 billion. Talk about economic impact! We just wanted to take this space to say how much we appreciate all the volunteers that have touched the lives of people in Glendale, the West Valley, the Phoenix Metro area and really, around the state!
