Arizona Watermelon Festival Returns to Glendale

The Watermelon Festival finds its roots reaching back to 1949 in Glendale. A celebration of the agricultural achievements of Glendale melon growers, the popular summer event once drew annual crowds of up to 40,000 people who were served more than 80,000 pounds of watermelon. The 2013 Watermelon Festival revives this tradition in Glendale's Murphy Park. Maintaining much of the traditional integrity of the original events, the 2013 Watermelon Festival will highlight a multitude of watermelon-centric activities and games to entertain the whole family. Glendale CVB Hosts Royal Baby Shower June 9 to Benefit West Valley Child Crisis Center!
Live like royalty for a day for a good cause at the Royal-Tea Baby Shower, in honor of the Duchess and Duke of Cambridge (Kate and William), who will be parents to a prince or princess soon. This event will be held at The Spicery in Downtown Glendale on Sunday, June 9 from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., and will benefit the West Valley Child Crisis Center (WVCCC). Glendale’s Favorite Summer Tradition Is Back - Summer Band Kicks Off June 6
The eight-week concert series takes place each Thursday at 8 p.m. June 6 through July 25, in the Murphy Park Amphitheater, located at 59th Avenue and Glenn Drive; with the exception of the holiday week in July, when the concert will be held Wednesday, July 3. Music lovers of all ages will be entertained by this community band of approximately 100 musicians with its renditions of marches, ballads and show tunes. Learn more
